Wall pads are padded panels or mats that fasten or hang on a wall. This guide covers six: five are wood-backed panels and one, the Mancino Series 502, is a folding mat that hangs on a rail. Three are sold at a published price (AK Athletics, the Great Call Athletics Strike Shield and Greatmats) and three are quote-only (two from Mancino and one from EZ Flex). Greatmats, Mancino and EZ Flex cite ASTM impact-attenuation requirements or standards for their foam, and those are the sellers’ own statements. None of the six product pages we read in October 2026 (five seller pages and one Amazon listing) publishes a rating for dropped plates or barbells. We therefore make no claim that any pad here protects a wall from them.
These are six products from five sellers, aimed at rack and bench owners who want padding on a finished wall. Specs are printed as each seller states them, and we label the figures that come from an Amazon listing instead of a seller page.
We read each seller’s product page in October 2026, and the Amazon listing for the Great Call Athletics panel. Product specs are read from those pages, and safety was screened against the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall database (October 2026 search; no recall found for any recommended product). We don't test the products we cover. Where a product has a published selling price we show a numeric band; where the seller routes buyers to a quote, the cell reads “Band not confirmed: check the listing.” Bands reflect observed selling prices at our last review. Offers change; check the listing. The picks are numbered for reference, not scored, and no star ratings or single prices are shown.

Type: wall pad with an OSB core. Construction (per the Amazon listing’s bullet points): dense foam, a solid OSB core and a heavy PVC leather cover. The listing says each panel measures 70 x 24 x 2 inches and weighs 25 pounds, is sold individually in black, and mounts with nails, adhesive or hook-and-loop. The link goes to this listing on Amazon, sold by Great Call Athletics; the figures in this entry come from the listing, not from a maker page. Price band: $75–150.
The listing says the panels are for school gyms, sports facilities, garage gyms and home gym walls.
Type: wall pad on a Z-clip mount. Construction (per Greatmats): a 2 inch polychloroprene foam core with a density of 9 lb/ft³, a 7/16 inch recycled composite wood backer and a 14 oz vinyl-laminated polyester covering. The pad is 2 feet by 6 feet by 2 inches and weighs 50 lb, and is made in the USA with a one-year limited warranty. Greatmats says the pad meets ASTM F2440-18 impact-attenuation requirements and ASTM E84 Class A fire requirements. Z-clips attach to the back of the pad during installation; Greatmats says they are not shipped attached and that the method allows easy removal of the pads. Terms (per Greatmats): an order minimum of 5, a custom order that is not returnable, and a production time estimate of 8 to 10 weeks. Price band: $300–700 per panel.
The band is per panel, and the order minimum of 5 is Greatmats’ own term, so a buyer pricing a wall needs to count panels first.

Order terms. Several of these are made to order. AK Athletics says its pad is not eligible for return, and Greatmats says its pad is a custom order that is not returnable, with an order minimum of 5. AK Athletics estimates 3 to 5 weeks to ship, Greatmats gives a production time estimate of 8 to 10 weeks, and Mancino gives its own lead times for non-stock items. Read each seller’s terms before you order.
Mounting. The sellers describe different fixing methods: a nailing lip or margin (AK Athletics and one Mancino option), Z-clips (Greatmats) or an aluminum Z track (a Mancino 400 Series option), a hook-and-rail system (Mancino Series 502), nails, adhesive or hook-and-loop (the Strike Shield listing), and direct wall attachment (EZ Flex). If you rent, check your lease before drilling.
Panel size and placement. Sellers list different heights and widths, and some offer custom sizes. Measure the wall area behind your rack or bench first, then compare each seller’s stated panel size.
Quote-only products. Mancino and EZ Flex send buyers to a quote request, so we show no band for them. The Mancino 400 Series page offers size, mounting and color options, so check what a quote covers before you compare it with a priced panel.
Other approaches. Other ways people cover a wall include plywood or OSB sheets fastened to the wall framing, corner or edge guards at outside corners, and rubber hung as a sacrificial layer. We do not review or recommend any of them here, and we make no claim that any of them protects drywall from a dropped plate. If you rent, check your lease before drilling.
Safety. Our October 2026 search of the US CPSC recall database found no recall for any product recommended above. That search covers recalls only.

We can’t say. None of the six product pages we read in October 2026 (five seller pages and one Amazon listing) publishes a rating for dropped plates or barbells. Greatmats, Mancino and EZ Flex cite ASTM impact-attenuation requirements or standards for their foam; those are the sellers’ statements.
Check your lease first. The sellers describe different fixing methods: AK Athletics supplies a nailing lip for screws, Greatmats uses Z-clips, Mancino’s Series 502 hangs on a YKK hook-and-rail system, the Strike Shield listing mentions nails, adhesive or hook-and-loop, and EZ Flex describes direct wall attachment.
Several are made to order. AK Athletics estimates 3 to 5 weeks to ship, Greatmats gives a production time estimate of 8 to 10 weeks, and Mancino gives a standard lead time of 5 to 6 weeks (400 Series) and 4 to 6 weeks (Series 502) for non-stock items. Confirm the current lead time with the seller before you order.
