It never affects what we recommend

We choose gear on the merits — footprint, build quality and value for the room you've actually got. We test our flagship picks hands-on and rank the rest on documented specs and owner consensus (and we tell you which is which on every page). We never accept payment for a placement, a higher ranking, or a positive review. If a product isn't worth your money, we say so.

How to spot an affiliate link

Affiliate and retailer links are marked rel="sponsored" and open in a new tab. You'll also see a short "we may earn a commission" note next to our "where to buy" buttons and comparison tables. Our internal links (to our own guides) are ordinary links and earn us nothing.

Which retailers

Today we link to Amazon. Over time we may add other retailers (such as Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods) and brand stores. We'll disclose each affiliate program here as it goes live.
